Incandescent light bulb demand is increasing as people stock up on them before they get gradually phased out. The US government is in the process of phasing out the bulbs over the next several years. One hundred-watt and 75-watt incandescent bulbs are already no longer being produced, and as of January 1, the production and importing of 60 watt incandescent bulbs will also stop in the United States. This incandescent bulb "phase out" began early last year with a goal of promoting the use of higher efficiency bulbs.
