Bulbing, a LED bulb designed by Studio Checha based in Israel may appear 3D to the naked eye, but a side-view reveals the luminaires are actually flat.

LEDs with 50,000 hour lifetime are situated in the wooden base of the bulb, while the interchangeable acrylic glass inserted into the base creates the optical illusion. The LED bed side lamp currently comes in five available designs.

With 42 days to go, the studio’s Kickstarter project to mass produce 400 units has already raised £14,750 (US$ 24,916.31). Bulbing is expected to be mass produced and shipped by September 2014, while early bird supporters can expect to receive the finished product by July this year.
